REGISTRATION DETAILS – CLU
Upon registering for CLU 255, you will be required to verify that you meet the educational requirements to undertake the course. This process may vary depending on how you completed your CFP/QAFP requirements and/or attained the designation.
I COMPLETED THE CFP/QAFP CORE CURRICULUM THROUGH ADVOCIS
If you completed the Core Curriculum through Advocis directly, you will not need to complete a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) form, nor pay an administrative fee.
I COMPLETED THE CFP/QAFP CORE CURRICULUM THROUGH ANOTHER PROVIDER
If you completed the Core Curriculum with another FP Canada approved learning provider, you will need to provide an official transcript from said provider. You will not need to complete a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) form, nor pay an administrative fee. See below for instructions on providing your transcript.
Obtain an official transcript (on the FP Canada’s approved learning provider’s letterhead)
Official transcript to clearly show and declare the completion of the required core curriculum for CFP or QAFP certification
Signed and dated by the learning provider

Instruction is provided to the candidate they can now be registered
I AM A CFP OR QAFP DESIGNATION HOLDER WITHOUT THE RELATED TRANSCRIPT
If you cannot provide a transcript from your learning provider, we will accept proof of good standing obtained from FP Canada which you will be required to provide. You will also need to complete a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) form and pay an administrative fee of $100.00. See below for instructions on recognition of CFP or QAFP designation.
Recognition of CFP or QAFP Designation Instructions
The applicant must complete the PLAR form and pay a $100 administrative fee
The application for recognition of an external designation will be processed, with a decision forthcoming
If approved, the applicant will be advised and approved to proceed with registration in CLU 255
